It’s so important isn’t it, to be pro-active in supporting your wellbeing and to find and use the tools and techniques which will work for you…..That’s why, this week, I will be bringing you a different tool or techniques every day.

Today, I want to introduce you to EFT …The Emotional Freedom Technique….sometimes referred to as ‘Tapping’.

With this technique you can access energy in the body through the tapping of specific Meridian Points to reduce any Stress and to restore Balance.

So how do you do it ?...Well before you begin the actual tapping you identify three things;

The first thing to do is to identify the problem which you wish to release today, e.g. Fear

Secondly, connect with how this feels in your body and score how this is impacting you on a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the worst), e.g. ‘on a scale of 1 to 10 my Fear feels like an 8’

Thirdly, create a phrase that represents the presenting issue and your acceptance of yourself without judgement of this issue, e.g. ‘even though I feel this fear, this can change, and I completely accept myself’.

Now for the technique.

This requires you to follow the specific sequence which I have set out below….so relax, and lets do this.

  1. State your phrase, just like in the example, using the words which represent the issue you are ready to release now.
  2. In sequence, tap each of the following meridian points seven times, while simultaneously stating your phrase three times;
  • Karate chop area on side of non dominant hand
  • eyebrow
  • side of the eye
  • under the eye
  • under the nose
  • chin
  • beginning of the collarbone
  • under the arm, next to the breast
  • top of the head
  1. Check on the reducing level of your score after each sequence, repeating the sequence until you have completely let go.

Now, shake out your body as you take a few deep belly breaths. Notice how the feeling in your body has changed now and acknowledge this better feeling, this work well done, ….thats right.
